Kintsugi
Capstone Project - Spring 2025
"Kintsugi" is a vibrant boarding school for Cairo's street children, providing a safe, nurturing environment that empowers them through creativity and skill-building. Designed as an open and immersive journey, the space fosters independence by providing shelter and a platform for self-expression to transform young lives through their reintegration into society.

Bayt Al Suhaymi has 2 courtyards which are redesigned to create a healing space for the children to build bonds with one another.

Additionally, workshop spaces are also designed for community-building.

The ground floor features an educational space as well as vocational training and opportunities for self expression to teach street children how to become self reliant.

This building is a 17th century Ottoman house in historic Cairo, so the redesign celebrates its classic Ottoman architectural features.
